“Zero. The gravedigger.” The figure snapped its fingers, and a monument slid before them. Inside was an unfamiliar female mage frozen at level ninety-nine. “The public servers treat character deletion as erasure. It isn't. Every move, habit, and emotion sinks here. Server Zero isn't a game map. It is Realm Dominion's memory.”
“Why did the Crown choose me?”
“It didn't. You are simply the first person in ten years willing to use a beginner's weapon and study each of one hundred failures.” The digit in Zero's chest flickered. “The system recognizes results. You examine defeat. That was the selection criterion left by the original designers.”
