Pain Never Lies
His right arm fell limp.
“Don't touch him!” Su Cheng pushed through the players and knelt beside him. “Lin, look at me. Can you move your fingers?”
“Yes.”
“You're lying.”
The team's new sports-medicine analyst always spoke as if reading a lab result. Lin tried to smile, but his lips had gone bloodless.
When the stretcher arrived, Zhou blocked its path.
“The pain moved into you, didn't it?” he asked quietly.
Lin's smile froze.
“My MRI showed swelling. Then the pain vanished completely, and your arm failed the instant after you touched me.” Zhou stared at him. “That isn't coincidence.”
“Winning hasn't dulled your detective instincts?”
“Answer me.”
Lin shut his eyes. “Let me reach the hospital first.”
