Chapter Three Club Security
Ethan crouched. "I don't touch Moretti men. I touch men who steal Moretti money."
He placed Victor's ledger on the floor. The proof was enough to get the man and his family killed. Ethan gave him two choices: return and say the club owner had folded, or let Carlo see the ledger.
The next day Moretti believed the club was still paying. The cash actually moved through Sophie's cleaning company into Russo accounts. Ethan learned that victory was not always knocking an enemy down in the street. Sometimes it was making him guard your lie.
Sophie began turning cash into payroll, equipment leases, and property deposits. She searched Brooklyn for bankrupt laundries, small trucking firms, and warehouses banks wanted off their books.
