Chapter One: The Man Who Lost Color
“What does it take?” he gasped.
“Abilities may include color vision, balance, speech, joint mobility, or organ function,” the arena answered.
Yellow Hair went pale.
Zhou watched the opposing guard's shoulder. Before every screen, the left shoulder dipped. The center was not screening; he was waiting for a switch. Their perfect chemistry was merely a program repeated until smooth.
“Don't switch!” Zhou shouted.
He squeezed through and struck the dribble point. Diving after the loose ball, he tore his knee open and slapped it back inbounds. Glasses caught it.
“Shoot!”
Nine-two.
With the ball in his hands, the world returned to a familiar frame rate. The center's toes pointed outward, his weight tilted right.
