Chapter Three: The Deleted Sister
Han reached Lin but did not shoot. Instead, he turned and destroyed a Clocktower drone aiming at Lin’s back.
“When you get it, do not believe everything it shows,” Han said. “Memory can be edited too.”
One hundred percent.
“Move!” Zero cried.
Lin tore out the cable and rolled. The cooling columns burst in sequence. A white pressure wave threw him several meters. Su Lan caught his coat and dragged him into a maintenance trench. There was no flame. Hundreds of millions of ice crystals filled the tunnel lights, summer turned briefly into snow.
Helix, the Clocktower, and Convergence lost the target at once.
Five minutes later, Lin and Su Lan crawled from a drainage outlet into an abandoned subway station.
