Chapter Three: Ghost Online
Marcus went still. Ethan cut open the lining of his coat and lifted out a black chip the size of a grain of rice. Aegis had not expected the killers to bring Marcus back. They only needed Marcus to carry the tracker to any refuge he reached.
"They're too fast," Marcus said.
"They're too confident."
The first SUV burst into the car wash. Ethan had already fixed the tracker to the underside of a drum of industrial alcohol. The second vehicle braked hard, four armed men jumping out with thermal optics. The third blocked the exit.
They did not see Ethan.
He had climbed through the ceiling duct and moved onto the steel beam above the washing line.
He pressed the remote.
