Chapter Four: Fifty Million Dollars

The first gunman heard the step only when Ethan's palm was already driving the barrel upward. Suppressed rounds punched into the ceiling. Ethan took the weapon, elbowed the man down, turned, and used the body to block the second gunman's line. Two controlled shots dropped the second man. Sophia stayed behind the pillar, but she did not freeze. She grabbed a broken piece of night-vision casing and hurled it into the third gunman's face. The half second of disruption was enough. Ethan closed, broke the wrist, and slammed him into the edge of the rail bed. The last man tried to run. Ethan did not chase. He threw the captured pistol. The frame struck the man's knee from behind. He collapsed, and Ethan was already standing over him.
