In 2478, the Solar Federation rules hundreds of colony worlds, and mechs decide the fate of war. Leon Voss, an orphan from a frontier mining planet, is cast out after a 23 percent synchronization score marks him as unfit to pilot. In an abandoned mine, he awakens Astra-X, an ultimate war machine left by a lost civilization. As the Void tears into the galaxy from the frontier, Leon rises from slum survivor to ace pilot, battlefield hero, commander of the Iron Legion, and finally the legend known as the Iron King.
