Chapter Two: Astra-X Awakens

It was not the chemical exhaust of Federation mechs, but blue wings that seemed compressed from starlight. The machine charged upward through the collapsed shaft. Rock shattered against its shoulder armor, and darkness became a burning tunnel. The surface erupted. The deep silver mech burst from the abandoned mining zone, dragging thousands of stones into the storm. Its phase wings split the dust clouds in half. In the distance, the District Seven defense wall was already burning. Six old Federation Bulwark ground mechs were retreating. Three black enemy frames pursued them. Void mechs did not have human joint structures. They looked like insects grown from obsidian, with long limbs and torsos covered in translucent black film.
