Bao ordered two men forward. Su Wan blasted them with a car fire extinguisher. Through the white cloud, Lin Mo shouted to the manager, “Use the money you received to hire transport! Five hundred each for anyone willing to deliver at normal wages.” Three drivers who had worked for Bao dropped their pipes. Before the collapse, Bao had commanded them because he could pay. Now the man who could honor a wage was the real employer. “I’m in.” “Hospital first.” The choice spread. Workers and waiting families pushed Bao aside. Lin Mo had not hired fighters. He had simply restored a price to honest labor. Fifteen minutes later, a refrigerated truck headed for the hospital. Su Wan watched the temperature gauge until it stabilized. “Why did you help me?”
