“Eight hours?” Lu Yao glanced at his phone's nineteen-percent battery. “That wouldn't be enough to inspect a city.”
He scanned his badge at the gate. The light turned green, though there was no guard and no project manager. Only static answered on the radio channel.
His supervisor had temporarily pulled him from the engineering office because the client was in a hurry. The acceptance form had to be signed tonight. After seven years inspecting industrial equipment, Lu Yao was accustomed to cleaning up other people's messes. He had never seen a multibillion-yuan project where the client failed to appear.
The gate closed behind him. A blue route appeared on the factory map: Precision Manufacturing Center One, 11.7 kilometers away on foot.
