Chapter Two: My Lawful Husband
The bell rang again. Four people in formal suits waited outside. The oldest wore white gloves; two carried gift boxes, and the last held a pressed outfit.
“Good morning, Young Madam,” they said, bowing. “Mr. Lu asks you to come downstairs and complete the marital arrangements.”
Zhiwei tried to close the door, but a polished shoe blocked it.
“Uncle Chen, I said invite her, not besiege her.” A lazy voice came from behind them.
A young man removed his sunglasses. He had a recklessly handsome face, an apparently casual suit, and perfect black diamonds for cuff links. He glanced from Zhiwei to Chenxing's burned clothing.
“My wife has prepared a surprise on our first morning.”
“Mr. Lu?”
“Lu Jiming. A brownie last night, your lawful husband today.”
