She studied his grip. His hands bore training calluses; the muzzle was perfectly steady. Someone who truly wanted death did not need such an elaborate threat. He was forcing her to declare a position.
“You're an investigator. Do you have a warrant?”
He frowned.
“Then holster the gun. Chenxing, take the guest room and seal the curtains. Jiming, clear the crowd and investigate every ownership record for those buildings on South Huai Street. Zhou Lin, stay and explain the rules.”
No one moved.
Zhiwei placed the three empty bags in a row. “I made the choices, so you follow my rules now. Any objections?”
Chenxing moved first. Jiming laughed and made a call. After several seconds, Zhou Lin holstered his weapon.
