Chapter Three: The People We Forget
Lin Wanzhao spent the night confirming three facts.
She had been a patient at Saint Grace Children's Hospital at age seven. After the fire, she had been diagnosed with selective amnesia. And in an old family photograph, Xu Yuechuan stood beside her hospital bed.
On the back was a note: For Wanwan. Sing the star song whenever you're afraid.
Xinghe studied it. “That's my sister's handwriting.”
By morning, Zhou Ce and Mianmian had vanished. The organizers claimed the mascot was undergoing repairs and ordered the tour onward to Lanjing. “Don't Fear the Dawn” now topped every chart, while the penalty for quitting would bury Xinghe for life.
“You can leave,” Wanzhao told him.
