Chapter Four: Two Identical Faces
When the doors opened, Mianmian stood in the corridor with its back to them, pressing both paws firmly over the mascot head's eyes.
Laughing, Wanzhao switched on her recorder. “Addendum: at 2:07 a.m., Xu Xinghe and I kissed for the first time.”
She paused.
“If I ever say we didn't, play this for me.”
Xinghe's smile faded. “Why would you say that?”
Wanzhao looked at his reflection, her face bloodless.
“Because while we were reading the names,” she said, “for three seconds, I couldn't remember who you were.”
