“There is a crescent burn between your left thumb and index finger. It appeared in an interview photograph fourteen years ago.”
The gloved fingers contracted.
Only rain striking glass disturbed the silence. Recognizing a supposedly dead billionaire, Jibai realized, might be the most expensive mistake of his life.
The man stepped closer, smelling of medicine and cold rain. “How much do you owe?”
“None of your business.”
“One million, eight hundred sixty-four thousand. Eight hundred thousand came from your father's guarantee for Yongjian Logistics. The rest is medical debt and interest. At your current income, working fourteen-hour days and spending nothing, it will take eleven years.”
Cold crept down Jibai's back. “You investigated me?”
