Chapter Three: Half a Key to Tidelistening House
“Young Master Shen, this is no time to dislike a deliveryman's dirty hands.”
Yanci took it. As their palms locked, Jibai discovered that the habitually gloved hand bore more than a burn. Two finger joints were rigid, once broken badly.
He pulled Yanci through. By the time their pursuers broke into the passage, the two men had fallen from the vent into a rear alley. Jibai's scooter stood a hundred meters away. Yanci regarded it like an unpredictable animal.
“Where is your car?” Jibai asked.
“Traceable.”
“Then hold on.”
Yanci mounted the back and initially gripped only the seat. Jibai accelerated hard. Both arms immediately closed around his waist.
“You are vindictive.”
“Complimentary service.”
