“Tidelistening House did not regain power until one this morning,” Jibai continued, “but the Shens reported its property stolen at 12:40. Rich people's possessions seem to vanish before they exist.”
The men exchanged glances and left. They were not police.
Viewers passed ten thousand. Outside the frame, Yanci watched Jibai build a wall out of public attention.
Afterward he asked, “Aren't you afraid they'll choose another method?”
“Yes.” Jibai pulled his father's only suit from beneath the bed. “So we go in first.”
The sleeves were old and too large. Yanci folded one back, his fingertips lingering against Jibai's wrist.
“Mingshu won't admit a delivery rider to the Orchid Room.”
“Then who am I going as?”
