He had the source file and all 273 layers. What he did not have was a time-lapse.
His old computer had burned out a week ago, and the automatic backup held only merged progress files. More importantly, he never recorded himself. A man poor enough to count every kilowatt did not let capture software consume fifteen percent of his machine.
Tides terminated his contract at 8:20. A freelance platform froze his account at 8:26. At 8:40, his landlord sent a final demand.
Then Gu's assistant called. “Mr. Gu can have the damages reduced. Admit you used generative assistance and apologize.”
“Who ordered me to turn the sea into a mirror?” Lin asked.
Two seconds of silence. The call ended.
The twenty-seven-inch drawing display on his desk flashed.
