Chapter Two: Reality Has No Such Frame

Silver light erupted from the lens. It was not a flash, but a sun on the far side of the glass suddenly finding an exit. Light wrapped Lin, and in the next instant she stood ten feet away. The negative creature grasped empty air. A bright hole burned through its chest. Shen fell to his knees. Blood dripped from his nose onto the camera screen. Something in his mind had been torn away with the light. He remembered his father's death and the rain at the funeral, but no matter how hard he tried, he could no longer remember his father's voice. The creature shrieked and folded into a thin black sheet. Lin picked it up. White letters marked its reverse: RADIANT — RECLAMATION 63%. The door in the green screen opened.
