Lin followed the dependency graph backward. Among billions of characters, he found a trivial null handler:

When cost is unknown, treat it as zero.
“Found you.”
He drove the cursor blade down, but someone sighed behind him.
“Young people always believe finding the vulnerability means finding the enemy.”
A faceless figure stood at the ocean's edge, its body composed of deleted code.
“Who are you?”
“The first contributor.”
The figure raised one hand. Every red chain tightened.
“You did not invent open source, and this is not the first godforge. Show me how long this cycle of humanity can sustain its kindness.”
