Viewership began to spike, because everybody knew this was the kind of moment live television was built to exploit. The chat screamed: ["HE’S GOING TO FALL"] ["MOVE"] ["He’s not going to make it."] Aiden sprinted toward him and saw a rusted cable snapping taut beside his foot. In that instant, a reckless idea hit him. If inertia could be copied, maybe it did not have to be limited to a single object’s motion. Maybe the motion of people nearby, the rotation inside a machine, even his own running momentum could be borrowed, shifted, and spent somewhere else. He lunged in front of the worker, not to grab him, but to catch the downward pull that was about to drag him into the channel.
