Nobody Gives a Courier the Right of Way
"What the hell?" Noah muttered, reaching for his phone so he could at least record proof of why he was late.
The sea detonated a second later.
Not a fireball. Not a normal blast.
A huge blue ripple erupted across the water, as if an invisible hand had slapped the ocean aside. Dozens of shipping containers dropped out of their rigs at once and slammed into the pier. Sirens sliced the night open. Dockworkers scattered in every direction.
Noah turned to run, then saw a refrigerated truck sliding out of control toward a cluster of people.
"Move!"
He ran without thinking.
The world stretched thin around him, like someone had tugged time into long strands.
