They Said I Was Crazy
Noah woke in a hospital corridor the next morning and the first thing he saw was a news screen.
The footage looped the port disaster from the night before. The camera was shaky, but it clearly showed a young man in a delivery uniform and a face full of ash pushing aside a steel plate that should have killed three people.
The headline was enormous.
"Briar Harbor Port Reveals 'Blue-Light Freak,' Possible Dangerous Ability User."
The comments were worse.
"Fake stunt."
"Another clout chaser."
"Everyone wants to be a hero now."
"Look at his face. Definitely unstable."
Noah stared at the screen with a tight throat. He wanted to explain, but he couldn't even explain it to himself. The night before had felt like an overreal nightmare.
