Chapter Four - Heat Comes Through the Walls

The lights blinked off and came back. The diesel pump roared to life, and the water pressure gauge began climbing. "Got it," he said. The outer wall gave a deep, heavy удар. Not a knock. A collapse. The parking structure above had begun failing in sections, and heat was pushing down into the underground space like a fist. Smoke seeped through the seam of the pump room door, then more smoke, then blacker smoke. "Move!" Elliot shouted. They barely got back into the corridor before a wave of superheated air rolled down the passage, carrying the smell of burned plastic. Sophie's radio filled with static, then with fragments of shouting. Lucy stopped dead and stared at the camera monitor, face draining white. "What?" Mara asked.
