Chapter Two: A Prophet Only Needs Seven Days
Nine minutes into the second cycle, Lin Yan did three things.
First, he exhausted every line of credit he could obtain and bought emergency batteries before the storm raised their price. Second, he anonymously reported fire-code violations at a cold-storage warehouse in the west, forcing it to close before the explosion due three days later. Third, he laid a printed ledger on Zhao Heng's desk.
“Kickbacks, fabricated server losses, and the sale of citizens' migration data.” Lin tapped the last page. “The originals are scheduled for delivery to the inspectors. You have twenty minutes to resign.”
Zhao's face went from red to white. Half the offenses on those pages had not happened yet.
“Where did you get this?”
“Archives remember everything.”
