Thirty seconds after Su Mi burst into the archives, Zhao Heng finally recovered.
“Security! Who let her—”
“Second panel on the west wall of your office,” Lin Yan said as he passed. “Pull it out now, and you may still have time to confess.”
The color drained from Zhao's face.
Su Mi did not ask how Lin knew. She possessed only seven seconds of memory: rain on a warehouse roof, the warmth of his palm, and one sentence she knew she had to trust. Everything else was blank, but her body had recognized him before reason could.
Lin took her to the third basement level. The black door still hid behind the tape vault, but it would not open. A city map now covered its surface.
