At nine that morning, they found Tang Li in an all-night internet café. She was asleep beside her keyboard while unfinished code for a distributed broadcast protocol scrolled across her monitor.
“You know me?” Tang closed one hand around a folding knife.
“In two days, you'll be arrested for breaking into Gu's satellite network. Before dawn on Day Six, you'll disappear from detention.”
“Is that a threat?”
“A rescue.” Lin placed a cached clip from the previous cycle on her screen. Another Tang Li sat on a forklift, arching an eyebrow at four million viewers.
