Chapter Three: She Said, Don't Save Me
Lin Wan's profile picture had not changed.
She was twenty-five, standing beneath the old clock tower as rain pasted her hair to her cheek. She was turning toward the camera, laughing. Shen Yan had taken the photograph. Just before the shutter fell, she told him that if she ever vanished, he should use this picture to find her, because this was how she wanted to be remembered.
His hand hovered over her name.
For seven years he had imagined their reunion. Perhaps she had married in a distant town. Perhaps she hated him, or had lost her memory. He had never imagined her online among the dead.
Su He caught his wrist. “You've already lost two memories.”
“Then I can't afford to wait.”
