The Cooling Point
“What are you doing here?” he asked in a low voice.
“Ask yourself that,” Lin said.
The administrator ignored him and looked at Daniel instead. There was no surprise in his face, only annoyance at being caught.
“You brought them here?”
“You know there’s a problem,” Daniel coughed. “You know the cooling points aren’t enough.”
“Now is not the time.”
“Then when is it?” Erin asked. “After you move the children’s ward off the list?”
The administrator said nothing for a beat, then seemed to make a choice.
“You need to leave,” he said. “This place is about to be locked down.”
“Locked down?” Marcus barked a laugh. “There are hundreds of people outside and you’re talking about lockdown?”
The administrator ignored him and signaled the officers.
