“Not here,” Lin said. “Hitting him changes nothing.”
“Then tell me what does!” Marcus growled.
Lin looked at the crowd already boiling over, at the faces stretched to the edge by heat. That was when he understood the real danger. It was not how many beds were inside the stadium. It was that everyone was finally starting to understand the truth. They were not being rescued. They were being sorted.
Erin suddenly looked down at the child in her arms. His body had started shaking again, hotter than before.
“He’s going into a seizure,” she said.
The child opened his mouth but made no sound.
Daniel snapped out of it and shouted at the administrator, “Where is the ambulance access?”
