Chapter Two: Twenty-Three People, Nobody Missing
The contract burned. Lin Wu shoved him away and raised a hand to strike him, but he caught her wrist. Light had appeared in his black eyes.
“Now look.”
Inside the washer's round glass, Shen Yan danced with the woman in white. He seemed unharmed, but his eyes were vacant. With every turn, the name card on his chest faded.
Lin Wu rushed forward. Shen Yan suddenly missed a beat.
It was their private signal from their first rehearsal: Danger. Stay away.
The woman looked over his shoulder directly at Lin Wu. She raised one pale hand and displayed a new name card.
It read: TANG LI.
