Chapter One: After Midnight
Blue emergency lamps came alive.
The nurse still sat where she had been, but her face was as white as plaster. Her open eyes had no pupils, only silver membranes filled with moonlight. Gray-black fur poured along the schoolboy's fingers, and his nails pierced his phone screen. He cowered under the seats while his spine rose joint by joint. The drunk hung upside down from the ceiling, his suit dangling beneath him and two pointed teeth stained red. Five deep claw marks scored the advertisement where his head had rested.
Other things struggled free of familiar human shapes.
One passenger's skin turned transparent, revealing luminous fish swimming through his chest.
