Chapter Two: A Photograph That Would Not Pass
Su Mi arched against the silver threads, which cut into her skin. She no longer looked at Jianyue like a friend. She looked like a starving animal.
Ten frames remained in the camera.
Jianyue could freeze Su Mi and lose another unknown memory. Or she could enter Everday and walk into the trap Zhou's photographs had indicated.
“Tell Pei Du,” she said, untying the silver thread at Su Mi's feet, “I accept the screening.”
Shang Xian's smile deepened.
“He asked me to give you one message.”
“What?”
“You were this brave seventeen years ago,” he said. “Unfortunately, the next morning, you no longer remembered him.”
