The archive loudspeakers came alive. Harmful declarations became documents that others could question, amend, and countersign. The ring released the woman's hand. Unsent letters gathered back into a tongue.
Zhou's memory did not return. The ledger had saved his body and name, not his relationships.
Following his own instructions, Lin handcuffed him outside Vault Seven.
“The evidence says we were friends,” Lin said. “I feel nothing.”
