“Got the money?” Lin asked.
“We did. Now what? Thank the Royal Bluehaven prince online?”
“No.”
“Pike paid us on his first day too. Promised a training pitch. By year two, we bought our own tape.”
Lin pinned Bluehaven's release letter to the tactics board.
“Yesterday, I was one of them. Today, they don't want me. I am not here to rescue you or sample non-league football. I spent every pound I had on this place. I will register as a player, but Gary stays captain and Oscar stays manager. Oscar chooses the team. Wages will arrive on time, and people who cannot meet the standard will leave. The difference is that before we discard anyone, we will truly see him.”
