Chapter Two: No Such Person
The more she spoke, the more frightened she became, because the details were thinning. She remembered that Han had a wife but not her name. She remembered learning to weld from him but not the year of her first lesson.
Zhou wrote in pencil, never touching a terminal.
“Enough,” Voss said. “Acute stress projection. Transfer her to medical observation.”
“After I inspect her alleged physical evidence.”
Lin spat out the nut. Voss scanned it. The display read: STANDARD M8 BRASS COMPONENT. MANUFACTURED TWELVE YEARS AGO. REGISTERED USER: ELI VOSS.
“There.”
“Look inside.”
Under the lamp, two crooked characters showed on the inner ring. Voss studied Han Tuo’s name. A muscle jumped beneath his scar.
“Fabrication of Security property,” he said.
