Why deny a place that did not exist? A crowd blocked Medical’s entrance. A woman clutched a child’s breathing mask and demanded that doctors find her son. The name Chen Yi was written inside it, but the registry said she had never borne a child. Bystanders blamed hypoxia. She held the mask tighter. A fading ring marked her forearm, exactly the size of a child’s grip. Lin stopped. “It wasn’t only Han.” Voss pushed her onward. The woman saw Lin, and terrible clarity ignited in her eyes. “Do you remember one too?” The guards forced them apart. An airtight door cut off her cries. This was not coincidence.
