Chapter Two: The Terminal Station

Lu Chen's danger sense exploded. He dived from the wall and knocked the remote aside an instant before it sparked. His left hand stuck to a carriage door; his right caught the arsonist. The moving train dragged them both. “Let go!” the man screamed. “I did that once,” Lu Chen answered. “Once is enough for a lifetime.” He used the door as a spring and threw the man into a decorative pool. Lin Wan's team stormed the platform. White extinguisher foam swallowed the carriage. At 6:40, the last passenger reached safety. With black fabric torn from a billboard covering his face, Lu Chen escaped along the tunnel ceiling. As he passed above Lin Wan, she raised her pistol. “Stop!” They stared through the white haze. She did not pull the trigger.
