Chapter Three: A Wedding in the Clouds
The third photograph appeared two days later.
A web hung between the towers of the Linjiang Spire. Its dew marked 11:11. A wedding ring occupied the center. Magnified thirty-two times, the diamond reflected Lin Wan lying in blood.
That morning, the son of property tycoon Zhou Baichuan was holding his wedding on the Spire's top floor.
Lu Chen anonymously sent the image to Lin Wan. Ten minutes later she pushed into his studio and slapped the print onto the table.
“Where is the original?”
“It arrived by email.”
“This film was discontinued seven years ago, and your fingerprint is in its fibers. Pier Seven, the station—you know the answers before the crimes happen.” She stepped closer. “Are you saving people, Lu Chen, or arranging all of this?”
