Chapter Two: A One-Pixel Target
Lin projected the photograph and magnified the emerald. “The version you gave the client contains a fake stone. A real emerald has multiphase inclusions; this composite has uniform bubbles. The reflection differs from the model’s eye-light by eleven degrees. And here—one pixel from the stock site’s watermark.”
He illuminated a nearly invisible white point.

Lin slid a contract forward. “I’ll repair the authentic photograph and keep tonight’s accident private. The price is not negotiable.”
The money arrived ten minutes later.
