His expression was cool, and his right index finger tapped his thigh—once, twice, pause, once. Vega always did that before taking a penalty.
Lin lowered his eyes and pressed his cart against the wall.
As Vega passed him, a drop of blood fell from the inside of the player's elbow and struck a pale gray tile.
“Wait,” Lin said before he could stop himself.
Every footstep stopped.
The bald doctor at the front turned. “What is it?”
“Slippery floor.” Lin pointed to a patch that was not slippery at all. “Please be careful.”
He knelt to wipe up the blood. Vega looked down, and their eyes met for only a moment. The player's eyes resembled dark glass.
