At 11:55, he shifted the figure thirteen pixels left, breaking the conventional rule of thirds. At 11:57, the entire composition breathed.
Not metaphorically.
The silver highlight across the woman’s chest rose and fell.
Gu Yan froze. The air conditioner stopped. The green exit sign at the end of the corridor blinked like a cursor saving a file. He zoomed to eight hundred percent. Her skin dissolved into square islands of color. Pixels did not breathe.
“I’ve finally lost it,” he murmured.
The woman’s lips moved.
His speakers were off, but he understood her perfectly.

His hand hovered over a layer titled FIGURE_FINAL_ACTUAL_FINAL.
