Chapter One: The Last Coin

Zhou Lin pressed his thumb against the coin. “I wager that Zhao Biao will not put in all his chips. My collateral is the last attachment I feel to the Zhou name.” The coin turned cold. Behind the curtain, Zhao Biao placed only ten yuan beneath his cup. A line of silver light split the coin. [Correct. Advantage available: Intimidation. Duration: twelve hours.] Biao slammed the table, but no one flinched. His roar landed like air escaping a toy. Even his men found him inexplicably ridiculous. Zhou Lin merely looked around, and the entire table fell silent. An advantage was not magic created from nothing. It was power everyone had agreed to recognize. The coin had peeled that agreement from Biao and draped it over Zhou Lin's shoulders.
