Silence. Lu knew Grant was not considering Lin's future. He was considering his own performance review.
The digital agreement arrived at 4:57.
Lu did not sign immediately. He handed the phone to Lin. “That fifteen percent may complicate your next move, but it buys your freedom today. The choice is yours.”
Lin read every line and pressed his signature to the screen.
When the confirmation appeared, Lu's account had gained nothing and lost one pound. Still, he smiled.
