Chapter Two: Coordinates of the Wing Bone
"The old weather tower sits at the exact center. Built in 1997, abandoned in 2009 after foundation subsidence. Its design company dissolved. The underground plans are missing."
"You're actually going?"
"A dead man gave me coordinates, and a dead satellite told me not to use them. Either way, I can't go home and sleep."
Su took away his coffee. "Experiment first. Your eyes reacted when you saw the image."
She swept her phone's flashlight across his pupils. They contracted normally. Then she placed the layered satellite image beside the light. A ring of fine gold lines appeared briefly in his left eye, like a microscopic diffraction grating.
"There is something in your retina," she whispered.
