Chapter Four: The Wing Beneath the Ice

"That is what the sentence is." The ice collapsed. Lin, Su, and Chen fell with half a crawler into a blue abyss. Lin reached for gravity and found two conflicting downs. Earth called from below; the hummingbird city pulled sideways like a planet concealed inside reality. He could not rewrite both curvatures. "Left!" Su pointed while falling. "The cavity return!" Lin trusted her measurement. Instead of supporting three bodies, he turned the wrecked crawler toward the wall. Their tether swung them after it. Steel smashed through thin ice and exposed a gold-white fissure. They rolled inside. The glacier closed behind them. There was no wind.
