Under the red lamp, both faces seemed unfamiliar. Jianwei wanted to deny it, but said, “You pinched your finger that day. I knew it wasn't a habit. You were afraid.” “One gesture, and you think you know me?” “No. That's why I want to ask instead of explain you.” The old camera lit inside Jianwei's bag. Its screen displayed a photograph no one had taken: Wen beneath the lamp, Xiaoman behind her, two identical faces divided between light and dark. The pictured Wen's lips were sealed, while black film wound around her throat.
