“As for Mr. Lu,” Bai Yi said, “your gift is waiting outside.”
The theater doors opened. Reporters surged in. Gu Yan stood at the front, eyes red, holding up the returned engagement ring.
“Chenzhou, you hired people to stage this because you wanted revenge on me, didn't you?”
Every lens turned toward him. Wanqing whispered, “Say I designed it. Your rating will recover.”
“And yours will become the worst.”
“We are opponents.”
Chenzhou smiled. He accepted the ring, then pressed it into a recess at the end of the umbrella handle. It fit perfectly.
A second compartment sprang open. A microSD card fell into his palm.
“The Gu family didn't return an engagement token,” he told Gu Yan. “You returned the key my mother smuggled out fifteen years ago.”
