Chapter Five: A Call from the Forgotten
“If you recall me, who burns?” she asked.
“It won't come to that.”
“You didn't know about the house.” She gave him her chart. “If I vanish, don't rush to trade someone else for me.”
Someone knocked. The boy's mother stood outside with her son. She did not recognize Cheng Cheng, but a crumpled receipt had led her there.
“Someone said the doctor who saved my son needed help. I don't know who sent it.”
The boy offered Cheng Cheng a mint. “You saved me, didn't you?”
Her balance stopped for one second.
His price tag read: 【Remember my rescuer. Price: whenever corrected, choose to believe myself again.】
It was not one transaction but an ongoing choice.
